Q & A

What should I do if I'm sick for class? Stay at home if you are sick.

Contact our admin as soon as possible. They will reach out to discuss options. Provide your contact info, class date and class title. Please give us as much time as possible so we can open up seats to a waitlisted person.

Can you accommodate my accessibility needs? Contact our admin ahead of time to discuss how we can support your learning environment.

How should I prepare for my class? Read through your class description prior to coming, especially if someone else registered you. Review the slide deck that was emailed to you. Review and bring a copy of your agency's relevant policies, safety committee's terms of reference, assessment forms, etc so you can refer to them during class. (This is not to share with the rest of class.)

In Person classes. On class day, you will be provided with class worksheets & handouts. You are free to bring your own copy of the slide deck and your own device to take notes. Some of our classes may be in more remote areas. We recommend that you research food options ahead of time. You are welcome to bring your own lunch.

Virtual classes. Check your email for materials and Zoom link. You don't need to be a Zoom expert. Review the technology requirements here. (Hint: That link also contains a practice session.)

What are the expectations for participation, particularly regarding video and communication? To ensure a connected and engaging experience, we ask that you

  • keep your video on when we start the session (introductions!) and after any breaks
  • accept breakout room invites and participate (yes, we can see who is participating)
  • reply to any chats from the facilitator

If your facilitator doesn't hear or see you

  1. They'll reach out to you. If there's no response, your facilitator will contact the Director.
  2. The Director will attempt to reach out to you. If there is no response after a certain period of time, you will be removed from the meeting. This means that you won't be eligible for a certificate.

But what if my tech isn't working? There are various ways to communicate with the facilitator: verbally, through the group chat or in individual chat. You can also email our admin staff, who can update the facilitator. Please reach out to your IT support to help you navigate.

What can I expect on class day? Arrive 5-10 minutes early so you can settle in. Be prepared to participate. We use a learning model that includes discussions, sharing, hands-on activities and problem-based learning. We typically take 2 coffee breaks and a full hour for lunch.

Can I record the class or take screenshots?

No. This is due to privacy and confidentiality. However, you are welcome to take your own handwritten or electronic notes.
